JPS Genesis 41:8 And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit (x;Wr ruach) was troubled;

JPS Proverbs 20:27 The spirit (hm'v'n> neshamah) of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inward parts.

I did a word study of "inward parts" and it means in most cases "belly" or "womb". It seems to be symbolic.   Paraphrasing it to make it understandable I would like to say, "Our spirit is the lamp of the LORD searching out what's really in our kishkas!"
