Let’s pretend it is voting season in your country.

The best candidate seems to be Ian O’Brian. He seems like a nice guy, but you are Jewish and feel like a candidate for you has not yet entered the race. You will wait. Maybe you will just skip voting in this election. Maybe next time.

What you don’t know is that Ian O’Brian is the son of David O’Brian, who until he arrived on the shores of your country, was named David Cohen.

You see, Ian’s campaign advisors are Gentiles. They love Ian and think they know what is best for him. So what do they do? They put all of their effort and campaign contributions into a cover-up of his Jewishness. Why? Well the Jewish people are a small percentage of the population. Surely they will recognize Ian as being one of their own without his true identity being made public. In the meantime, it is the larger Gentile vote that matters.

So the cover-up succeeds until a few Jewish people begin kibbizing and realize that Ian is absolutely Jewish. In fact, not only is he Jewish, but he is Torah observant. They begin meeting and inviting other Jewish people to do their own research. They know they want and need this man in office.

Some of their friends and family come to the realization that Ian is Jewish and are excited and begin to tell others about him. The leadership of the overall Jewish community does not recognize what is obvious to them. With a name like Ian O’Brian and with such a good cover-up, many of his own people don’t recognize him as being one of their own. Because of the twisting of facts, some of his own people still see him as the shagetz, Ian O’Brian.

Ian wins the election.
